Greetings from the Southern Mountains Rally 2012.
Whilst still over a year away preparations are underway for what will be an exciting event run over two days in the traditional style and format similar to what you will experience here at the ever popular and famous Alpine Rally.
The rally will start in the spectacular seaside town of Eden NSW and travel via four townships over 650 km total distance returning to Eden for the finish on Sunday 4th November.
You can expect over 300km competitive on some of the best road conditions anywhere in the country. Crews will be tested with a wide variety of stages planned including both forestry and shire roads amongst no less than 12 separate forestry regions, a minimum of 18 stages are planned with none repeated. Typical road conditions will take you from fast sweeping open roads similar to that seen in New Zealand to tricky natural and pine forest areas. The terrain is a real draw card for this event and very well suited to older Classic / Historic vehicles.
Similar to previous years the rally will be open to both Classic / Historic and Modern vehicles to compete and is expected to attract a large field from all states. If you’re looking for great competition fun and adventure then keep the date free whether your competing, spectating or just want to be involved , we look forward to see you on the NSW far south coast in November 2012.
Cheers and see you in the Alpine forests 2011
